spiders

the spiders live in the trees near the edge of the swamps, but despite their proximity to the city proper they tend to be a naive lot. most of them can't even recognize a regular human at first glance, so it's pretty common for travelers to get snatched up and cocooned into web by a spider who just doesn't know much better - and listen, if you don't pipe up and say something, they'll probably eat you. they don't know! they don't know better!!

once you DO say something, though, they're usually plenty apologetic and sweet. omg I've never even met a human before im sooo sorry I thought you were, um, I don't know actually, sorry it'll take a while for the web to dissolve, did you know there were wolves hunting you by the way? so maybe I saved your life a little? so that's good probably! oh the wolves probably just wanted to have a chase, maybe, I don't know, anyway, ,,

meeting one and living to tell the tale will be the highlight of that spider's life. still, the possibility of being eaten makes them somewhat dangerous, and there are the occasional outliers who aren't so nice.
