what if Theseus, on his ship,
changed his shoes
what if he tore his pants at the knee
what if Theseus on the coast of Crete sat on the rocks and cut his hair and went into the labyrinth and came out dressed in scars and blood and shed fur
the ship still anchored
the wood still old
Theseus, looking into the water, meeting eyes
with a young Athenian youth he does not know
all his parts new
