SPEAK YOURSELF UNWILLINGLY WELL.
Neurons connect across slick tongue.
Fur raises the tension back of my neck
sun-red shoulders
bow-taut nerves

At the edge of the restless water I set myself to all fours
folding down, animal-shape,
and put my mouth to it.
Sandgrit on my teeth. Oily film.
By the way, a leash chokes my throat.
Undersurface water pure cool

Tied to a rotted post.
Every twelve hours I make myself promise.
Sticky wet gel on my shoulders, arms,
over belly,
tiny pill on the tongue,
the wild dog gnaws at the rope with its back teeth

MAKE SOMETHING GIVE: MAKE IT NOT BE YOU:
I will clean the water, I will snap the leash,
I will make home of myself.
